On March 8, 2011 at approximately 8:15 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of Salisbury Avenue when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects. Officer Hirschbein approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, identified as Steven Heimbuch, age 21, from Ravatt Road in Port Monmouth, when he detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and on Heimbuch’s clothes.
An investigation by Patrolman Hirschbein revealed that Heimbuch was in possession of a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana, a wooden pipe used to smoke marijuana and a cigar box which contained a plastic baggie with a green vegetative type substance which he recognized as marijuana.
Heimbuch was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons pending a court appearance.
The other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene. Patrolman Felipe Benedit assisted with the arrest.
