Pallone Puts Over One Million Dollars Back in 6th District Constituents’ Pockets

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 12, 2011
Contacts: Richard McGrath/Erin Bzymek (202) 225-4671

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. on Wednesday announced since January 1, 2011 he has successfully secured over one million dollars on behalf of constituents in the form of disability back pay, social security payments, mortgage modifications, hurricane disaster aid and more. Pallone’s constituent outreach representatives over the past 10 months have made it possible for constituents to cut through the red tape to receive money that is rightfully owed to them.

“I’m proud of this accomplishment,” said Pallone. “Lately many people are having a hard time making ends meet and when money owed is tied up by red tape or wrongfully withheld, that can cause a lot of unnecessary stress in someone’s life and on a household budget.”

The funds secured by Congressman Pallone and his staff are part of a long list of constituent services. For example, constituents who have issues with their Social Security benefits, federal pensions, Medicare eligibility, and U.S. citizenship are eligible for help.  Additionally, Pallone and his staff frequently assist veterans to obtain back pay, GI Bill benefits, VA disability claims, as well as assistance to widows who are eligible to receive pensions.  Staff can also be helpful in locating low-income housing options, and energy assistance and various other benefits or resources that may be beneficial.

The $1,024,888 secured by Pallone on behalf of his constituents amounts to over 100 cases closed.

“I am always working on behalf of my constituents, be it through working to pass consumer protection legislation, holding committee hearings on public safety or liaising with government agencies to ensure you get the benefits that are owed to you.”

Here is the latest edition of the It’s Your Town Hall newsletter covering the 10-3-11 Middletown Township NJ Committee Workshop meeting.

There was a request to have a special Committee meeting to discuss the capital improvements, but as stated during the meeting, the Committee felt there was no reason to discuss this in public.

There was some discussion when Linda Baum asked about principal repayments for the bonds and notes the Township has outstanding. She wanted to continue the discussion, but it was terminated due to the 5-minute rule. See inside for more details.

For those that are new to this there are links within the newsletter that will bring you to that ordinance or resolution. At the end of that resolution or ordinance there is a link to bring you back to where you were reading. In the case of the bill list there is a link on each page.
