Letter: Middletown Hides Mismanagement

The following letter was posted online at the Atlantic Highlands Herald

Mayor Fiore is good at one thing and one thing only—raising Middletown’s taxes. Since being in office he has raised our taxes 22.3%.

Municipal mismanagement is rampant in Middletown. Yet the Mayor has been effective in keeping all this from the residents. When asked repeatedly to have the Township Committee meetings televised, he refuses, saying he doesn’t want to spend money. Yet, his record of spending money is off the charts. Perhaps he wants to hide the truth about the state of operations in Middletown.
We need better leadership and management in Middletown. Let’s stop the escalating taxes and mismanagement. Middletown residents, please get out to vote and elect Jim Grenafege and Carol Fowler to the Middletown Township Committee. They are fiscal conservatives. They have proven methods to reduce waste and inefficiencies. They know how to set demanding goals to ensure that the township is managed both effectively and efficiently.

With Week 7 Pick Princess Looks to End Two Game Losing Streak; Take The Chargers Over The Jets She Says

After starting off the football season with a perfect 4-0 winning streak of picking winners of NFL games this year, Princess the Camel of Popcorn Park Zoo, has had a little bad luck lately. She is now looking to reverse a two game losing streak after choosing the Jets to beat the Oakland Raiders in week 5 and the Buffalo Bills to defeat the Giants last week.

In an attempt to get back on track this week, Princess has decided that the San Diego Chargers will beat the NY Jets to bolster her record of picking game winners to a very respectable 5-2 by the end of Sunday’s game.
In speaking about Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan and the Jets in general Princess had this to say about why she chose the Chargers this week, “… with his team in disarray. You never know what to expect from him or them.
Is she right or will her losing streak continue dropping her record fall to 4-3 after Sunday? If you’re a Jets fan I know you think she is wrong, but we’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

The both the Asbury Park Press and NJ Spotlight have race profiles online for the NJ 13th Legislative District races featuring the issues and candidates in those races.

In the 13th race for State Assembly Democrats Kevin Lavan of Hazlet and Patrick Short of Middletown are running against Republicans and current members of the State Assembly Amy Handlin 0f Middletown and Declan O’Scanlon.
This race also features two other candidates running together for the State Assembly William Lawton and Frank Cottone, as members of the Constitution Party.
In the 13th race for State Senate Democrat Christopher Cullen of Hazlet is running against current State Senator Joe Kyrillos of Middletown.

The candidates for Monmouth County Surrogate race have also been posted online at the APP website. In this race Democrat Michael Steinhorn from Rumson is looking to unseat Middletowner Rosemary Peters. The APP headline “Monmouth County surrogate race not drawing attention” is an understatement, which is a shame because Steinhorn is an extremely capable and affable guy, who deserves more attention.
