>Can the Grand Old (Tea) Party Win in November?

>Nice article written by John Nickles over at the Nation.com about the sudden turn of events that has now made Democratic prospect for the November elections and retaining control of the US Senate much more likely thanks to Republican voters that chose extreme right-wing TEA Party backed candidates in Alaska, Delaware, Nevada and elsewhere over more mainstream GOP candidates:

Did the Tea Party movement just snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Delaware?

In a word: Yes.

Just as wins by extreme right-wingers in Republican primaries in Nevada, Alaska and other states have renewed the hopes of Democrats in Senate races where they looked to be doomed, Delaware Republicans just ditched a seemingly certain November winner for a likely loser.

On a night when the Tea Party movement scored some big wins over candidates of the Republican establishment—in races for governor of New York and perhaps for New Hampshire’s open US Senate seat—the most dramatic victory for the frenzied right came in Delaware, where Tea Party heroine Christine O’Donnell upset Congressman Mike Castle for the party’s Senate nod.

Former White House political czar Karl Rove, who describes the Republican nominee for the US Senate from that state, Christine O’Donnell, as someone who “says a lot of nutty things,” was arguing that the GOP just lost a Senate race.

“We were looking at eight to nine seats in the Senate. We’re now looking at seven to eight in my opinion,” Rove said Tuesday night. “This is not a race we are going to be able to win.”

But consider those numbers: What Rove is saying is that, with the Delaware result, Republicans may have lost much more than the Senate race in a single state….

>NJ Ranked #5 on "Pain Index"

>Here’s an interesting tidbit of information, according to US News & World Reports NJ ranks fifth in the overall “Pain Idex” – The combined effect of higher taxes and fewer services that directly affects Americans’ quality of life – Which States are worse off than NJ? Alaska, California,Wyoming and Rhode Island.

The one thing to remember while reading is that while things here in New Jersey aren’t so great it could be worse.

Shatner Does Palin On The Tonight Show

I am not a very big fan of Conan O’Brien, I never really thought he was that funny and worth staying up til 1:00 am to watch, but now that he has taken over the Tonight Show my opinion of him may be changing.

The past few nights on the Tonight Night Show, Conan has hit homeruns by having William Shatner read portions of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s farewell speech and Twitter tweets as poetry.

Total Brilliance !!

The Barracuda Bites Back

I don’t know how anyone else feels about this, but i just can’t get enough Sarah Palin and those wacky Wassilla Hillbillies.
Palin just seems to be getting more and more desperate and defensive about her run for vice-president as seen in this segment of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. In this impromptu press conference upon her return to Alaska yesterday, Palin sounds frazzled and ready to cry. Keith has Margaret Carlson comment on the Palin press conference.

>Palin: I’m Sorry if I Cost McCain a Single Vote

>Sarah Palin this morning apologized for any votes she might have cost John McCain in his bid for the presidency, while downplaying aspirations to challenge Barack Obama in four years during an interview with MSNBC.

“If I cost John McCain even one vote, then I am sorry about that,” she said.

Palin said she could not even imagine running for national office in 2012, saying “2012 sounds so far off.”

The governor cited the economic crisis as the key factor for their loss, saying her selection as McCain’s running mate could in no way trump the country’s serious financial woes.

Palin said she will return to Alaska tonight and cannot wait to get back to working full time as Alaska’s governor.
