>Crime Scene Middletown: Arrest Made In Burglary Case And Other Recent Activity Around Town From The Week 5/10/11 – 5/16/11

On May 10, 2011 Detective Adam Finck arrested Corey Throckmorton, age 25, who currently resides at Wagoner Prison in Bordentown, NJ, for Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief in connection with a burglary that took place on March 5, 2008 at the Raceway Gas Station located on Highway 35 in Middletown.

Throckmorton was charged after evidence found at the scene at the time of the burglary linked him to the crime.

On May 10, 2011 at approximately 8:35 pm Sgt. John Werner was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed a suspicious person in the area of the hockey rink. Sgt. Werner approached the subject, a 16 year old male juvenile, and conducted an investigation which resulted in the discovery of a switchblade knife with a brass knuckle handle being found on the juvenile.

The juvenile was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He was processed and released to his parents.

On May 11, 2011 at approximately 4:45 pm Patrolman Jason Caruso assisted the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force Bayshore Unit with arresting Andrew Mullins, age 24, from Monmouth Parkway in Middletown on warrants signed by the task force. The officer located Mullins at his residence and took him into custody.

While arresting Mullins, Officer Caruso located a baggie which contained Marijuana and a glass pipe used to smoke Marijuana in the bedroom where Mullins was taken into custody. The officer conducted a further investigation which resulted in the arrests of Christopher Duley, age 20, from Doris Lane in Middletown and Ryan Dunn, age 29, from Walnut Street in Keyport, NJ, who were also present in the room.

All three subjects were transported to police headquarters. Duley and Dunn were each charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and were released pending a court date. Mullins was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Prescription Legend Drug and Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

On May 13, 2011 at approximately 12:50 am Patrolman James Beirne and Corporal Bernie Chenoweth responded to the area of Apple Farm Road in reference to a subject who was refusing to pay his cab fare and who was screaming at the cab driver.

Upon arrival the officers located the subject, Brendan Corridon, age 30, from Corn Lane in Middletown, who was intoxicated and was yelling at the cab driver while attempting to strike him with his fists. Corridon was placed under arrested and was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 13, 2011 at approximately 1:00 pm police responded to Middletown High School North in reference to an assault that had taken place in the assistant principal’s office. Upon arrival Patrolman Charles Higgins was advised that a 17 year old female student had walked into the office and had assaulted a 16 year old female student.

Patrolman Higgins conducted an investigation which resulted in the 17 year old female being charged with Simple Assault. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released to her mother.

On May 13, 2011 at approximately 9:00 pm Patrolman Frank Mazza and Detective Lieutenant Stephen Dollinger were assigned to the Cops in Shops detail at the Old Village Pub when they observed a subject enter the store and purchase Jack Daniels Whiskey and Budweiser beer. The officers recognized the subject, identified as Robert Lo, age 19, from Jersey Avenue in Middletown and knew that he was not old enough to purchase alcohol.

The officers conducted an investigation and determined that Lo had used a fake New York driver’s license to make the purchase. The officers also determined that Lo had received money from two 15 year old juveniles and one 16 year old juvenile to purchase the alcohol for them.

All four subjects were placed under arrest and were transported to police headquarters for processing. Lo was charged with Purchasing Alcohol Underage and Purchasing Alcohol for others who are underage. He was processed and released pending a court date. The three juveniles were charged with having someone else purchase alcohol for them while being under the legal age to possess alcohol. The three juveniles were processed and released to their parents pending a court date.

On May 14, 2011 at approximately 2:35 am Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Highway 36 when he observed the driver of a vehicle not wearing her seatbelt . Officer Beirne stopped the vehicle, approached the driver, identified as Virginia Finley, age 27, from Concord Avenue in Leonardo and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.

Officer Beirne continued his investigation which resulted in Finley being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date. Ms. Finley was also issued additional additional summonses for Failing to wear a seatbelt and Reckless Driving.

>Crime Scene Middletown: It Was Another Busy Week As "MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP POLICE REPORT RECENT ACTIVITY"

On March 31, 2011 Detective Daniel Sullivan was contacted by Detective Jeff Miller of the Hazlet Police Department in reference to a prescription fraud investigation he had conducted. Det. Miller informed Det. Sullivan that Joan Heary, age 48, from Edgewood Road in Matawan, NJ, had presented fraudulent prescription blanks at numerous pharmacies throughout the area to include the Walgreens and Rite Aid pharmacies in Middletown.

Detective Sullivan conducted a follow up investigation which revealed Heary had presented fraudulent prescriptions for Roxicodone and Oxycontin at the two pharmacies on four different dates.

Det. Sullivan arrested and charged Heary with Forgery and Obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance by Fraud. She was processed and released on a summons pending a court date.

On March 31, 2011 at approximately 2:20 pm Police Officer Larisa Doriety responded to Middletown High School North in reference to a sixteen year old student who was found to be in possession of Marijuana and a soda can which was converted into a device used to smoke Marijuana.

Officer Doriety arrested the female student who was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The student was processed and released to her father pending a court date.

On April 1, 2011 at approximately 12:10 am Patrolman Christopher Dee and Sgt. James Prosinski responded to the area of Leonardville Road and Avenue D in reference to a report of a one car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival the officers located a vehicle with substantial damage to the driver’s side door and the driver, identified as Amanda Laguardia, age 25, from Atlantic Street in Highlands, NJ, in the driver’s seat.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in Laguardia being charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. She was released on summonses pending a court date.

On April 1, 2011 at approximately 5:10 am Patrolman Donald Coates and Patrolman Felipe Benedit responded to the area of Wilson Avenue in reference to a vehicle parked in a parking lot with a man passed out behind the wheel.

Upon arrival the officers located Daniel Price, age 23, from Georgia Avenue, in Port Monmouth, unresponsive and sitting in the driver’s seat. Mr. Price regained consciousness after a brief period.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in Price being arrested and charged with Possession of Oxycodone, Possession of Xanax, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Price was processed and held on $12,500.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

On April 1, 2011 at approximately 4:10 pm Patrolman James Beirne and Patrolman Kevin Gardiner responded to the area of Brookside Drive in reference to a suspicious vehicle possibly involved in the distribution of narcotics.

Upon arrival the officer located the vehicle as it was leaving the area. The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in a seventeen year old passenger being arrested and charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. The male juvenile was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released to his mother pending a court date.

On April 1, 2011 at approximately 7:00 pm Patrolman Richard Fulham and Patrolman Albert Scott responded to the McDonalds restaurant located on Highway 35 in reference to a report of two male subjects possibly distributing narcotics.

Upon arrival the officers located the two male subjects sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot.
The officers approached the vehicle and immediately detected a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the car. The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of a large amount of marijuana, the seizure of $476.00 in currency and the seizure of the vehicle, a white Volvo.

As a result of the investigation the officers arrested Arthur Mathurin, age 19, from Abbey Road and Rashon Martin, age 22, from Brainard Avenue.

Mathurin was charged with Possession with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of marijuana, Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of Tindall Park, Possession of over 50 grams of marijuana and Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was held on $15,000 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

Martin was charged with Possession with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of marijuana, Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of Tindall Park, and Possession of over 50 grams of marijuana. He also had a Contempt of court warrant out of Middletown Municipal Court. He was held on $15,250 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

On April 2, 2011 at approximately 2:45 am Patrolman John Mele was on patrol in the area of Navesink River Road when he observed a vehicle weaving in and out of its lane of travel. Patrolman Mele stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, identified as Jeremy Schreiber, age 21, from Baskenridge Drive.

>Crime Scene Middletown: MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES AFTER POLICE RESPOND TO A BURGLARY IN PROGRESS CALL

On February 8, 2011 at approximately 3:00pm officers responded to a residence on Main Street in Belford in reference to a report of a possible burglary in progress. Police had received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a male subject was attempting to enter the residence through a rear window.

Upon arrival police located Derek Donato, age 21, inside the residence and ordered him to exit. Donato advised officers that he lived at the residence and had locked himself out of the house and he was forced to gain entry through the window. Donato was asked to produce identification and during the course of the investigation by Patrolman Stephen Greenwood, Lieutenant John Maguire and Sergeant William Colangelo, Donato was arrested for several drug related offenses.

Donato was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription legend drugs and was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with Possession of prescription legend drugs and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Donato was released on a summons pending a court appearance.

Police confirmed Donato was a resident and was in fact locked out of his house.

>Crime Scene Middletown: MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES AFTER MOTOR VEHICLE STOP ON TINDALL RD.

On January 30, 2011 at approximately 11:00 pm Sergeant James Prosinski was on patrol in the area of Tindall Road when he stopped a vehicle for having improper tint on its windows. Patrolman Richard Fulham, who was also in the area, arrived as back up.

After approaching the vehicle and obtaining the driver’s credentials, Sergeant Prosinski returned to his vehicle to conduct a records check on the driver, identified as Jeremy Browne, age 19, from Spring Street in Red Bank. While Sergeant Prosinski was conducting the records check Patrolman Fulham remained at the vehicle and began speaking with Browne. At this point Browne turned the heat on in his vehicle and the odor of raw marijuana began to come from the interior.

Patrolman Fulham recognized the odor of the raw marijuana and requested a narcotics canine team respond to the scene. Patrolman Christopher Tuberion and his canine partner Mako of the Union Beach Police Department arrived on scene and conducted a search of the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Mako hit on the trunk of the vehicle which indicated the presence of a narcotic substance.

After advising Browne about the canine’s indication, Sergeant Prosinski and Patrolman Fulham received written consent from Browne to conduct a physical search of his vehicle. While searching the trunk they located a black back pack which contained a jar filled with green vegetation which the officers recognized as Marijuana and another jar which contained pills believed to be Ecstasy and a generic brand of Xanax. Further search of the back pack revealed numerous short straws and rolling papers used to injest narcotics as well as a plastic bag which contained a white powdery substance believed to Cocaine. The officers also located $2421.00 in currency and written payment records.

Browne was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with Possession of Ecstasy, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of over 50 grams of Marijuana, Possession of Xanax, Possession with the intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, and Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was held on $55,000.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

On January 23, 2011 at approximately 2:05 pm Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Bamm Hollow Road and Middletown Lincroft Road when he stopped a vehicle for having a view obstruction in the front windshield.

Upon stopping and approaching the vehicle, Patrolman Fulham detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from the passenger compartment. The officer began speaking with the occupants of the car to determine the source of the odor when one of the passengers, identified as Jesse Ballard, age 19, from Birchwood Lane in Middletown, told the officer that he was in possession of the marijuana and that it was located in his jacket pocket.

Patrolman Fulham checked the jacket and located a cigar filled with marijuana, a zip lock bag which contained seven individual foil packets each containing a green vegetation which Officer Fulham recognized as marijuana and $370.00 in currency. At this point Ballard was placed under arrest for possession of the marijuana. The driver was issued a summons for the view obstruction violation and was released at the scene.

Ballard was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and Possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. While being processed on the drug charges it was determined that Ballard had three outstanding Contempt of Court warrants from the Middletown, Red Bank and Keansburg Municipal Courts. He was held on $1096.00 total bail.

>Crime Scene Middletown: WOMAN ARRESTED FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION AFTER MOTOR VEHICLE STOP

On January 22, 2011 at approximately 2:15 am Patrolman Stephen Greenwood was on patrol when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the corner of Chapel Hill Road and Kings Highway East.

After stopping the vehicle and approaching the driver, identified as Meghan Walsh, age 19, from Normandy Court in Middletown, Officer Greenwood detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Officer Greenwood advised Walsh of his observation and received consent to search the car.

Upon searching the vehicle, Patrolman Greenwood located loose marijuana and a pill bottle which contained Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride on the seat of the vehicle. Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride are prescription medications and Walsh did not have a lawful prescription from a doctor to possess the pills.

Walsh was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters. She was charged with Possession of a controlled dangerous substance and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. She was also issued a summons for the motor vehicle violation. She was processed and released on her own recognizance pending a court date.
