>Crime Scene Middletown: Middletown Police Report Recent Activity 5/21 – 5/25

On May 21, 2011 at approximately 1:25 am Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Thorne School when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot and a package of Budweiser beer sitting on the ground near the driver’s side door.

Officer Fulham approached the vehicle and conducted an investigation which resulted in Matthew Griffith, age 19, from Pacific Boulevard in Cliffwood Beach, NJ, being arrested for Possession of Alcohol Underage. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 21, 2011 at approximately 5:03 am Patrolman Stephen Greenwood and Patrolman Ian May responded to the area of Kings Highway in reference to a report of a subject lying in the middle of the street next to a bicycle. Upon arrival the officers located the subject, identified as Sean Gillespie, age 22, from Libby place in Middletown walking in the area.

The officers approached Gillespie to check on his well-being. Gillespie was extremely intoxicated and began acting in an aggressive manner towards the officers. The officers continued their investigation which resulted in Gillespie being arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 22, 2011 at approximately 1:47 am Sgt. Paul Bailey responded to the area of Swimming River Road in reference to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival Sgt. Bailey observed several subjects fleeing the area. The officer then located three subjects in the area who were under the influence of alcohol.

Sgt. Bailey conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Andrew Suarez, age 18, from Brandywine Way in Middletown, NJ, and two sixteen year old Middletown juveniles being arrested and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol. Suarez was processed and released pending a court date and the two juveniles were processed and released to their parents.

On May 22, 2011 at approximately 6:00 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed a suspicious subject sitting on the ground. Officer Hirschbein approached the subject, identified as Justin Hunt, age 18, from Seabreeze Avenue in Middletown, to check on his well-being when he observed him attempt to hide something behind his back.

Officer Hirschbein continued his investigation which resulted in Hunt being arrested for Possession of Under 50 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 23, 2011 at approximately 1:10 pm Lieutenant John Kaiser was on patrol in the area of Puslch Street when he observed two subjects inside the Middletown Skate Park which was closed at the time. Lieutenant Kaiser approached the two subjects and determined that they had climbed the six foot high fence in order to gain access to the park.

Lieutenant Kaiser continued his investigation which resulted in Jesse Carroll, age 18, from Neptune Place in Middletown and Joshua Lindner, age 18, from Kimberly Court in Red Bank, being charged with Defiant Trespass. Both subjects were issued a summons and released on scene pending a court date.

On May 24, 2011 at approximately 9:50 pm Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia was working a traffic detail on Middletown Lincroft Road when a vehicle approached his location. The rear seat passenger in the vehicle, identified as James Fitzgerald, age 18, from Lusan Lane in Middletown, began screaming profanities at the officer.

Officer Fenezia was able to stop the vehicle and conducted an investigation which resulted in Fitzgerald being charged with Disorderly Conduct. He was issued a summons and released on scene pending a court date.

On May 25, 2011 at 3:27 am Patrolman Charles Higgins responded to the area of Belmont Avenue in reference to a report of a vehicle that struck a fence and then fled the scene. Upon arrival the officer conducted an investigation and then began checking surrounding streets for the vehicle.

Patrolman Higgins located the vehicle parked at a residence on Maxum Court. He continued his investigation which resulted in Marissa Tanne, age 19, from Maxum Court being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Tanne was transported to police headquarters for processing. She was charged with the additional offenses of Reckless driving, Failure to maintain lane, Failure to report an accident, Leaving the scene of an accident, Provisional license violation and Open alcohol in a motor vehicle and released pending a court date.

On May 25, 2011 at approximately 10:00 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed four suspicious subjects in the dugout area near the hockey rink. The officer approached the subjects and conducted an investigation which resulted in a seventeen year old juvenile being arrested for Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana.

The juvenile was transported to police headquarters for processing and was released pending a court date.

The Middletown Police Department arrested the following subjects on warrants:

Kevin Allen, age 27, from Powell Avenue in Atlantic Highlands arrested on May 24, 2011 by Patrolman Thomas Russo on four Contempt of Court warrants issued by various municipal courts. He was held on $4250.00 bail.

Stephen Casper, age 48, from Leonardville Road in Belford arrested on May 23, 2011 by Patrolman Jason Caruso on a Contempt of Court warrant out of Bradley Beach Municipal Court. He was held on $801.00 bail.

Kenneth Szepesy, age 54, from Bonnie Drive in Middletown arrested on May 23, 2011 by Patrolman Michael Nolan on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold.

Carissa Sabo, age 26, age 26, from Weehawkin Avenue in Middletown arrested on May 23, 2011 by Patrolman Michael Nolan on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Oakhurst Municipal Court. She was released on $200.00 bail.

Arthur Bossert, age 58, from Wood End Road in Middletown arrested on May 24, 2011 by Lieutenant John Kaiser on two Contempt of Court warrants issued by the West Long Branch Municipal Court. He was released after posting bail.

Bridget Dorsa, age 24, from Reta Lane in Middletown arrested on May 24, 2011 by Patrolman Antonio Ciccone on two Contempt of Court Warrants out of Middletown Municipal Court. She was processed and released.

>Crime Scene Middletown: Recent Activity Around Town From The Past Week

On May 8, 2011 at approximately 2:45 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of McMahon Park when he observed two juveniles in the area of the hockey rink. Officer Hirschbein approached the two juveniles at which point he detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the area.

On May 7, 2011 at approximately 2:40 am Patrolman Raymond Sofield was on patrol in the area of Pearl Street when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road with its interior light on. The vehicle was occupied by two subjects, identified as William Drummer, age 23, from Leslie Lane and Michael Cavalier, age 23, from Ned Court.

Patrolman Sofield approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The officer continued his investigation which resulted in both subjects being arrested and charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

On May 7, 2011 at approximately 4:00 am Corporal James Keenan and Corporal Thomas Meckier responded to a report of an accident at Highway 35 near Twinbrooks Drive. Upon arrival the officers determined that a vehicle driven by Matthew Lennox, age 21, from Walker Terrace, had driven through a work zone and struck the rear of a painting truck with an arrow board attached.

The officers continued their investigation which resulted in Lennox being charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Open alcohol in a motor vehicle, Reckless driving, Failing to wear a seatbelt, Prohibited use of a cell phone, and Failing to maintain lanes. He was released at Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was taken for treatment of his injuries sustained during the accident.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 6:50 pm police responded to a residence on Main Street in Belford in reference to a report of a man who was acting violently. Upon arrival Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia located the subject, identified as Michael Thomas, age 20, from Main Street in Belford at the residence.

Thomas was screaming and shouting profanities which caused a small crowd to gather in the area. He refused numerous requests from Officer Fenezia to calm down at which point he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 7: 35 pm Detective Sullivan was off duty in the area of the Kohls Shopping center when he observed a subject, identified as William Deppisch, age 23, from Campbell Avenue in Belford, in the area of the stores. Detective Sullivan was aware that there was a $3,500 Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court for Deppisch’s arrest.

Detective Sullivan contacted police headquarters and requested a patrol officer to respond. Patrolman Charles Higgins arrived on scene and located Deppisch in the area. Deppisch was arrested on the warrant and was also found to be in possession of Alprazolam pills and Marijuana.

Deppisch was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of a prescription legend drug, Possession with intent to distribute a prescription legend drug, and Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana. Deppisch was held on $53,500.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge James Berube.

On May 6, 2011 at approximately 8:25 pm police responded to the Port Monmouth Foodtown in reference to a report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival Patrolman Michael Reuter was advised by store security that they observed the suspect, identified as Adam Stranges, age 19, from Seabreeze Avenue in Middletown, attempt to leave the store with two bottles of Captain Morgan’s Rum at which point he was detained.

Officer Reuter placed Stranges under arrest and transported him to police headquarters where he was charged with Shoplifting and Possession of Alcohol under age. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 3:45 pm police responded to Normandy Park in reference to a report of a person who had found a baggie containing Marijuana and wished to turn it into the police. Upon arrival Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia retrieved the Marijuana from the caller and began an investigation.

Officer Fenezia was able to determine that the Marijuana belonged to a 15 year old male juvenile who was playing in the park. Patrolman Fenezia arrested the juvenile and transported him to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana. The juvenile was processed and released to his father pending a court date.

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 1:30 am Police Officer Janine Kennedy was on patrol in the area of Leonardville Road in Belford when she observed a vehicle being operated in an unsafe manner. Officer Kennedy stopped the vehicle and approached the driver.

While speaking with the driver, identified as Vincent Usuriello, age 33, from Henry Place in Middletown, Officer Kennedy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

The officer conducted an investigation which resulted in Usuriello being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Usuriello was transported to police headquarters where he was issued additional summonses for Reckless Driving and Failing to Signal a Turn. He was processed and released.

On May 4, 2011 at approximately 12:50 pm Corporal Joseph Glynn responded to Middletown High School South in reference to a report of a student in possession of narcotics. Upon arrival Officer Glynn conducted an investigation which resulted in a 15 year old female student being arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Naproxen, Perbutalin, Cyclobenza and Amitriptyl. (All prescription medications). The student was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released to her parents.

The Middletown Police Department arrested the following subjects on warrants

Erin Figel, age 25, from Algonquin Avenue in Oceanport, NJ, arrested on May 2, 2011 by Patrolman John Mele on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $1,500.00 bail.

Kyle Hazard, age 21, from Willow Street in Point Pleasant, NJ, arrested on May 4, 2011 by Patrolman John Mele on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
Carissa Bossert, age 22, from Woods Ends Road in Middletown, arrested on May 4, 2011 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $439.00 bail.

Scott Kruse, age 28, from Elyar Terrace in Middletown, arrested on May 3, 2011 by Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Red Bank Municipal Court. He was released after posting $175.00 bail.

James Laberdee, age 25, from Freemont Avenue in Seaside Heights, NJ, arrested on May 5, 2011 by Patrolman Ian May on a Superior Court warrant Issued by the Ocean County Superior Court. He was held on $14,621.79 bail.

Magan Close, age 35, from Port Monmouth Road in Port Monmouth, arrested on May 5, 2011 by Patrolman Michael Reuter on two Contempt of Court warrants. She was processed and released after posting $358.00 bail.

Alannah Heilweil, age 20, from Rutledge Drive arrested on May 5, 2011 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Wall Township Municipal Court. She was released after posting $140.00 bail.

Christopher Rosado, age 32, from Keystone Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, arrested on May 7, 2011 by Patrolman Felipe Benedit on warrants issued by the Middletown Municipal Court and the Monmouth County Superior Court. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.

Stanislav Tolstunov, age 32, from Prospect Avenue in Hackensack, NJ, arrested on May 5, 2011 by Corporal William Kennelly on a warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal court. He was released after posting bail.

>Crime Scene Middletown: MIDDLETOWN POLICE REPORT BUSY WEEK WITH NUMEROUS ARRESTS

On March 25, 2011 at approximately 11:00 am police responded to the area of Cooper Road in reference to a report of a subject parked in a vehicle possibly using drugs. Upon arrival officers located Tiffanile Czaplicki, age 28, from Kruger Place in Middletown, sitting in the vehicle.

Officers Ian May and Anthony Ciccone conducted an investigation and located two hypodermic syringes inside the car. Czaplicki was placed under arrest and was charged with Possession of hypodermic syringes. She was released on a summons pending a court appearance.

On March 26, 2011 at approximately 3:26 am police received a call from the New Jersey State Police reporting a vehicle which was driving erratically and had struck a barrier on the Garden State Parkway and then exited at exit 109.


Sgt. William Colangelo located the vehicle on Newman Springs Road and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Patrolman Savino Capilupi responded as back up. The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the driver, identified as Thomas Delia, age 52, from Dawn Court in Tinton Falls, NJ, being arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was processed and released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On March 26, 2011 at approximately 4:45 am Police Officer Janine Kennedy responded to the area of Mulberry Lane in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the street.

Upon arrival Officer Kennedy located the vehicle and conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Ryan Kelty, age 21, from Bray Avenue in Middletown. Kelty was charged with Possession of a prescription legend drug. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance.

On March 27, 2011 at approximately 10:56 am police responded to the area of Wilson Avenue in reference to a report of a man standing in the street swinging a weapon at passing cars.

Upon arrival Police Officer Larisa Doriety located Sean Lynch, age 25, from Danemar Drive in Middletown standing in the street holding a leather belt with a combination lock fastened to the end and a knife. The officer drew her firearm and ordered Lynch to drop the weapons. Sgt. Anthony Bagileo arrived as backup and the officer were able to place Lynch under arrest without further incident.

Lynch was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Unlawful Possession of a weapon, and Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

The Middletown Police Department also reported the following arrests on warrants between March 23 and March 27:

Ryan Canavan , age 18, from Jefferson Street in Middletown. He was held on $500.00 bail on a Contempt of court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court.

Michael Roy, age 30, from Bayside Parkway in Middletown. He was held on $6,800.00 bail on a warrant issued by the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Kelty, age 21, from Bray Avenue in Middletown. He was released on $200.00 bail on a warrant issued by the Ocean Township Municipal Court.

>Crime Scene Middletown: WOMAN CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING AFTER MOTOR VEHICLE STOP

On March 18, 2011 at approximately 8:20 pm Patrolman Donald Coates and Sergeant Fred Deickmann were on patrol in the area of Highway 36 in Port Monmouth when they observed a grey Nissan travelling at a high rate of speed and making unsafe lane changes.

The officers stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, identified as Kimberly Kellar, age 30, from Washington Avenue in Highlands, NJ. While speaking with Kellar the officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Kellar.

The investigation conducted by the officers determined that Kellar was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with DWI, Refusal to provide breath samples, Reckless driving, Failure to maintain lane and Operating a vehicle while using a cell phone.

Kellar was processed and released pending a court appearance.
