The New England Patriots might be the odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl XLVI, but the New York Giants have proven an uncanny knack for making odds-makers look ridiculous.
And according to Madden, they’re about to do it again.
EA Sports has simulated Sunday’s Big Game in Madden NFL 12 on the Xbox 360, and in another insane playoff nail-biter, the Giants edged out the Patriots, 27-24, to take home the franchise’s fourth Lombardi trophy.
But forget about the anticipated match-up between Tom Brady and Eli Manning. Like the last two playoff games, this one came down to a field goal. Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes, fresh off demolishing the dreams of San Francisco fans in OT, knocked down a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give the Giants the victory. Wonder if they simulated a virtual Billy Cundiff weeping pixilated tears, too?
The unlikely Giants win almost didn’t happen. The Madden simulation saw Brady rally his troops from a 24-10 fourth quarter deficit, throwing for two TDs to tie up the game. But like he’s done all year, Manning stormed back during the last Giants possession to set up the game-winning kick. He was also named the game’s MVP, finishing 25-39 for 342 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
The annual Madden simulation has proven pretty accurate at picking Super Bowl winners, though it fumbled pretty badly last year in taking the Steelers over the Packers. Still, it’s got a track record most gamblers would envy, nailing 6 of the last 8 games.
Princess the Camel is all over the news today, it seem that the only time anyone pays much attention to her is when she is making a Super Bowl prediction that involves our beloved NY Giants, which is not the case here. I’ve been covering Princess and her picks all season long on this blog!
As you all know Princess has an outstanding record this season that currently stands at 14-6. Myself and many more Giants fans out there are hoping that her record extends to 15 correct picks after next Sunday’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis where the NY Giants and the NE Patriots will meet in a rematch of Super Bowl XLII.
Princess’s big prediction for Super Bowl XLVI next week is that the Giants will come out victorious once again against the Patriots.
Here’s what she had to say:
“…I know all about Belichick & Brady. I know how good the Patriots can be, but I’ve got a feeling Brady will be on his butt more often than not, the Giants defense is that good!! Eli and the offense will do what it takes to win.”
If you are interested in watching Princess make her pick, Brick Patch has a video posted online showing Princess and her handler John, making the pick.
Last week it seemed that Princess the Camel may have been a little to confident in picking the Giants to beat the Falcons in their NFC Wildcard playoff game, but she and the Giants pulled it off rather impressively, the Giants beat the Falcons 24 – 2.
Being the Giants fan that she is, Princess hopes to continue her amazing winning streak and once again has chosen the Eli manning and the Giants to win this weeks NFC Divisional playoff game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
Ever optimistic Princess stated, “…stranger things have happened. Not too long ago the Giants went to Green Bay as a big underdog, played the game in zero degrees, and beat the Packers on their way to beating an 18 and 0 New England Patriots.”, when explaining her choice for picking the currently 9 point underdogs NY Giants over the Packers.
It’s going to be a tough game this week for the Giants, I don’t know if they can really pull it off but as Princess stated, anything can happen. Win or loss the Giants have exceeded expectations this year and I’ll be cheering for them either way.
The Houston Texans will square off against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium while the New York Giants will travel to Lambeau Field to take on the defending champion Green Bay Packers after a big win over the Falcons last week.
On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons will square off against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in an exciting NFC Wild Card battle. Will Eli Manning lead the Giants to a victory? Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers will go up against Tim Tebow and the Broncos on Sunday in this AFC wild-card matchup. Join NFL.com’s Pat Kirwan and Jason Horowitz as they preview this upcoming game.
I don’t have to tell everyone what a huge win last weeks victory over the Dallas Cowboys was for the NY Giants, it was huge. The win sealed the division title for the G-men and propelled them into the NFL playoffs. And if you remember back to last week, Princess the Camel predicted the outcome correctly!
For those keeping track thus far of Princess’s prognostications for the year, she finished up the regular season with an impressive 11(W)-5(L)record with last weeks win, she is now looking to extend her winning ways into the playoffs.
In the opening round of this years playoffs, the Giants will be facing the Atlanta Falcons at home on Suday in MetLife Stadium. It will be the very first playoff game held in the Giants the new stadium.
So who does Princess the Camel favor in this historic game? The Giants of course!
“…the Giants defense is finally healthy now. Did you see what they did to Romo last week? I felt bad for him and I feel sorry for the Falcons quarterback. Eli to Cruz unstoppable!!! They ought to call it “The Cruz Missile”.”, said Princess, not at all trying to hide her glee over the resurgent Giants.
Do the Giants and Princess have what it take to continue their winning ways (until at least next week)? I think so, the Falcons are a team built to play indoors and while the weather may not a big factor (temps in the mid 40’s with a chance of rain and possible wind), it may come into play at some point and turn the game in favor of the Giants.
